Career Coach Program

Why is this Program important to firm?

New Hire – Individual with <3 mos with firm Protégé – Individual 3 months to 2 years (required) or any other employee who will be guided by the Career Coach in career development and KT opportunities for growth

Career Coach – Individual 3+ years experience and one year minimum with KT who will be involved with the Protégé in developing their career

Why would I need a Career Coach?

  • Do you wish to sharpen your technical or interpersonal skills?
  • Do you need to acquire “soft skills”, such as managing people, handling negotiations, resolving personnel conflicts or interacting with clients?
  • Are you being considered for a promotion?
  • Do you seek professional development or career counseling?
  • If new, do you have a clear understanding of the firm’s corp culture, policies and procedures?

Why would I want to be a Career Coach?

  • Develop relationships with co-workers
  • KT views beneficial to firm and will be included in performance evaluations
  • Less turnover = less training and happier clients
  • Satisfaction of helping others grow

Handouts (to be included in personnel file)

  • Roles and Responsibilities’ for Career Coach and Protégé
  • Review Qualifications, Responsibilities and Benefits of each
  • Career Coach Agreement Form
  • Six month and Twelve month Evaluation Form

How will the Program work?

  • Interested Career Coaches and Protégés fill out application
  • Partners to approve Career Coaches list
  • List of available Career Coaches will be emailed to the Protégés
  • Protégés submit 1st and 2nd choices
  • Career Coaches to receive formal training on program guidelines
  • Completion of Career Coach Agreement to be included in personnel file
  • Quarterly meetings to be held between Protégé and Career Coach
  • Anticipate next meeting after the initial kick-off to be after tax season but before the end of May
  • Quarterly meetings with the Career Coaches to discuss how the program is working, improvements, changes, etc.

Time Commitment by Firm

  • Estimated 8-12 hours per year (including Career Coach and Protégé) based on one relationship
  • Expect 2-4 Protégé’s per Career Coach
